Solace Hospice Care Team

Bring comfort and companionship to those living with a terminal illness. Join the Solace Hospice Care team as a volunteer and visit with patients living in private homes, nursing care facilities and assisted living facilities in Eureka, O'Fallon, St. Peters, and St. Louis City and County.

As a companionship volunteer, you can brighten the days of our patients with prayer, reading, letter writing, card games, art projects, shopping, light housekeeping, and other volunteer services:

Share the Therapeutic Gifts of Music
Music can deepen relaxation, improve mood and enhance the quality of a hospice patient's days.  Grab your acoustic guitar, violin, harmonica, keyboard, ukulele, kalimba or songbook and spend some time with our sweet patients. We would love to have you on our team!

Share the Joy of Pet Companionship
Pet companionship can benefit hospice patients in a variety of ways -- lower stress, improved mood and increased joy!  If you have a trained pet who is gentle, friendly and loves people (with a history of visiting with the elderly, if possible), we would love to work with you!  Pets must have up-to-date shot records and obedience training; pet therapy certification is preferred but not required.

Provide Respite for the Caregiver
Caring for a loved one on hospice requires 24/7 dedication -- volunteers like you will provide the break caregivers need for vital self care. This volunteer opportunity involves sitting in the home with the hospice patient for 2-3 hours per visit while the caregiver runs errands, gets to the doctor, visits with friends or simply takes a walk.

There are also opportunities to deliver birthday balloons to our patients and work in our beautiful new hospice office in O'Fallon providing clerical support.  We look forward to collaborating with you!
